I am an Ohio native (Elyria to be exact) who moved to Denver, Colorado in 1993 and fell in love with Denver, Colorado immediately upon arrival. Growing up in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio  I was a die-hard fan of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio sports teams in general. I know, I know, it is unbelievable that I reside in the hometown of the Denver Broncos.

I graduated from  Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a B.S. in Business/Marketing in 1988. This marketing degree comes in very handy for creating interesting promotional materials to sell houses in the Mayfair neighborhood. After college I ended up living in Naples, Florida for six months working at a local cultural facility called The Conservancy (not to be confused with The Nature Conservancy) where I worked as a  marketing intern promoting the facility’s programs to the local community.  I loved this job and living next to the beach in Naples, Florida was definitely one of the perks of this experience.

After my short six month internship, I boarded a plane to S. America to work as a Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay. I lived in a small town called Carmen del Parana in Southern Paraguay. I assisted the local agricultural cooperative with membership recruitment and marketing activities similar to the life of this current Peace Corps volunteer.  I lived in Paraguay for 2 years and 3 months.  It was a life changing experience that cannot be summed up in a few words on a blog.

After my Peace Corps service ended, I boarded a bus by myself and travelled for one year through Chile, Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador.  I met lots of interesting characters and friends traveling alone and luckily survived many crazy travel choices. Some of these choices included hitchhiking with Bolivian truck drivers alone, crossing a raging river with only a flour sack tied around my bottom hooked onto a pulley on a worn rope (miracles do happen), and sleeping in a bordello in the red light district in Santiago, Chile (this was accomplished after arriving late at night in Santiago from a 60 hr. plus bus ride with no sleep).

After all this solo travel, I returned to the USA and packed  up a car with a few items and moved to Denver, Colorado.  I ended up living on 6th and Ogden in a big old victorian style house with a woman I met traveling in S. America, Eileen, who put me up in a spare bedroom for one month. I got my bearings and rented a room in another older home on 11th and Emerson for one year.  I loved living in Capitol Hill and shopping at Alfalfa’s now Whole Foods.  I have watched Denver grow up from when I first moved to town and it has been fun to see all the changes.

I have worked as a Realtor since 2002 and absolutely love selling homes.  I specialize in the Mayfair neighborhood of Central Denver. I love selling older homes and understand their charms and challenges.  I am a CRS  (Certified Residential Specialist) and strive to give every home buyer or seller the ultimate in customer service. Feel free to contact me, Jennifer Pollock, with any real estate related question or need and I will be happy to be of service.

I am a member in good standing with the National Association of Realtors (NAR) and a member of the Denver Board of Realtors(DBR).

    Hi Jen,

You provide an interesting story which adds a lot to the life experience log. You are snart to concentrate on Mayfair in your business. No One knows the particular length of time involved but this neighborhood will be totally popped in 5? 10? years? And it is already good. There will be MANY happy homeowners by the time Shea comes on board.

    Jennifer,

Hey, thanks for leaving me a comment. Love your site, and saw your post about the Year of the 1st-time home buyer. I know that we have been seeing the same thing in our market, and there is definitely going to be a lot of opportunity for 1st-time home buyers in 2009.

    Keep up the good work!
